GOLF TOURNAMENT

The history of our Shop

It all began in a garage more than 20 years ago...

Pacific Corvette incorporated in 1980. Although the idea for the business was there years before. It all started when Bob Adler Jr. bought his second Corvette. While trying to find parts for the '65, he ran across a 1966 Corvette convertible that was hit hard in the nose. It had no motor or transmission and from the firewall forward was missing. After removing all the parts he needed for the '65, he took what was left to a swap meet to sell. Thus the beginning of Pacific Corvette.

After a few more cars and swap meets, a small Saturday-only parts business opened. In 1979 the property where Pacific Corvette is located today, was purchased and plans began for a building and business. On July 1st, 1981 we opened for business, Monday thru Saturday 9-5 in a new building.

In 1982 Bob quit his full time job as a bank manager and started working Pacific Corvette full time along with a full time mechanic. Later in the same year, we expanded the building adding a body shop and brought in Clark and Dean, who are still here. You can see a photo of them on our Body Shop page.

In 1983 Pacific Corvette purchased Corvette Engineering of Vancouver, WA. They moved their parts inventory in two days and a number of truck loads, to Puyallup.

Things ran smoothly for the next several years as   our business grew. In 1985, Pacific Corvette purchased Corvette Oregon from Jim Kimber and moved the parts inventory and equipment to Puyallup, and merged it with our own. Later that same year, Jim Kimber moved to Puyallup and came to work with us at Pacific Corvette. But he decided to move back to Oregon in 1987 to be with his family. We still tease Jim today that we find an occasional part with a Corvette Oregon parts tag on it. Jim, of course, still wants to by the part at the 1985 price.

In 1988, while attending Bloomington, Bob met Ron Rudolph of Corvette Concepts by Crown Mfg . Ron invited Bob to visit Corvette Concepts , in Napoleon, Ohio. On the second day of his visit, Bob made a deal with Corvette Concepts to buy all their used inventory. The inventory was loaded onto a 45 ft. semi trailer and brought to Puyallup. We began the consuming task of merging the inventory into our existing surplus.

Over the next several years we began expanding our Service Dept . and the Restoration Shop . With our increasing parts inventory, we were then, and still now able to deliver shorter job times, and quicker restorations projects.

In January of 1992 we purchased Lincoln Corvette of Seattle, and over the next four months began the arduous task of moving 27 semi's full of parts inventory, and 75 parts cars, down to our Puyallup store. To accommodate the extreme amount of inventory, we had to move our Body Shop to a temporary location, until a new building could be built to house it.

With the Lincoln inventory on site, it became obvious we needed a simpler method of organizing the parts. So a computerized inventory system was put into place, and is still used today, to easily manage the over 16,000 parts we stock. Each part is inventoried by its original part number right from the assembly manuals .

In August of 1993, we broke ground for the new Body and Restoration Shop, and in March of 1994 we moved the crew back home after 2 1/2 years at the temporary site.

In August of 1994 we began talks with our friend and former colleague, Jim Kimber about  a partnership and second store. In October of that same year, Pacific Corvette  built the new partnership by purchasing half of the stock in Corvette Image II and opened Pacific Corvette of Oregon with new partner, Jim Kimber.

Today,  we have the largest new and used Corvette parts inventory on the West Coast, with two locations to serve you.

If you are local to Oregon or Washington State, or plan   to come up around the area, and need to find the hard-to-find part for your Corvette, stop by and see us. You'll be glad you did. You'll not only find the part you need, but a friendly staff of professionals who look forward to serving you!
